However it's not all about the competition out on the water, the Royal Southern Yacht Club will be hosting a party on the quarter deck on the evening of Saturday 9th May, the event will be available for all entrants to let their hair down after a long days racing!

Harken will be donating a range of highly sought after prizes for the weekend, which will be awarded on the Sunday to class winners with series prizes awarded at the annual prize giving ceremony.

When asked about Harken's involvement in the event Tom Peters, Harken Sales Manager commented:

"The Harken May Regatta is a fantastic platform with which to kick start the new racing season. The team at the Royal Southern Yacht Club do a fantastic job, making this an enjoyable event for all and we are thoroughly delighted to be back on-board for another year of competitive racing, see you on the water!"

Graham Nixon, Rear Commodore Sailing at Royal Southern Yacht Club commented:

"The Royal Southern is pleased to kick off its 2015 regatta series with the first event on 9/10th May sponsored by Harken. We are, as always, extremely thankful for the support that HARKEN continue to show every year.  Their continual backing is what enables us to deliver a first class start to our Summer Series.  13 classes on three race courses are planned, covering IRC, J/70, 80, 105 and 109's, as well as SB20 and the International 6 metre Class.  Owners new to racing are catered for in the Cruiser Class, which races easier courses under NHC handicaps.  A large turnout and competitive racing to suit everyone is anticipated.

After racing, all competitors are welcome back into the Club's new Yacht Haven, with walk-ashore access to the clubhouse, where there will be a crew party and buffet2015 on the Saturday evening and the prize giving after racing finishes on Sunday afternoon."
