Pewaukee, WI, July 1, 2008—Harken Yacht Equipment announced today the appointment of Stefano Castagna as its Global Human Resources Manager. This newly created global position is designed to build teamwork and better coordination between Harken’s growing family of wholly-owned offices. Castagna, who begins with Harken on July 15th, will be based out of Harken Italy’s office in Lurago Marinone, located in Italy’s Como District. He will be traveling extensively to Harken’s multiple wholly-owned offices throughout the world. He will be responsible for strategic planning and support of Harken’s Human Resources initiatives throughout all Harken operations, and will report to Harken’s co-CEOs, Peter and Olaf Harken.
Castagna brings to Harken an extensive international HR consulting background, having worked as a senior consultant with two leading Italian-based HR consulting firms: Core Consulting S.p.A and Learning Systems S.p.A. He is also an avid sailor having won the 2006 IMS Italian championships.
Castagna’s Human Resources professional experience is steeped in a rich global client base. He will apply this experience to facilitate the increasing globalization of Harken’s distribution offices as well as its two central manufacturing operations in the USA and Italy.
“Harken’s people are our greatest asset. It is this simple: we want to invest in better ways of motivating and managing them,” explained Harken Italy’s Managing Director Giampaolo Spera. “As the company continues to grow there is an increasing need for global coordination. Castagna will spearhead this effort by helping to blend the corporate cultures of Harken’s diverse network while maintaining the values that we have always held. We know Stefano will be the best man for the job.”
