Harken are pleased to be on board with George Yeoman and Sophie Ormsby. The pair, usually found at front of the RS200 fleet, have signed up as Harken ambassadors alongside their existing sponsorship with Team Rooster.
George and Sophie sail out of Itchenor SC in West Sussex and mainly compete in the RS200 but have also been known to make successful appearances on the UK Team Racing scene, sailing with the Birdham Bandits and Itchenor Fighting Camels. This season they will take on the RS200 circuit, National Championship in Tenby and Eurocup in Como, Italy.
George started sailing at Chichester Yacht Club aged 8 in an Optimist dinghy and worked his way through the RYA squads in Mirrors and 420s, attending World and European championships in both. Since then he's been found at the front of a wide variety of fleets including RS200s, I14s, Merlin Rockets, Fireflys, XODs and SB20s. Sophie went a slightly different route, sailing for fun in the summers in a wide variety of classes before really catching the racing bug at university in Exeter where she represented the Exeter 1st team, as well as being crowned BUSA Fleet Racing champion in the Firefly fleet for 2010-11. The duo first joined forces in what they describe as "an ill advised trip" down from Newcastle to Exeter for the Exeter Excalibur team racing event and have never looked back since!
